General Manager’s Safety Award for 12 Staff of Central Railway:

Shri Dharam Veer Meena, General Manager, Central Railway felicitated 12 Central Railway staff i.e. 3 from Mumbai Division, 4 from Bhusaval Division, 2 from Solapur Division, 2 from Pune Division and 1 from Nagpur Division with Safety Award in a function held at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Mumbai o­n 14.01.2025.

The awards were given in appreciation of their alertness during duty, their contribution in averting untoward incidents and ensuring safety in train operations during the previous months. The award consists of a medal, commendation certificate, a citation of exemplary safety work and cash of ₹ 2000/-.

Mumbai Division

1. Shri Dharamraj Singh, Train Manager, Panvel, Mumbai, while o­n GDR check of Goods train o­n 22.12.2024, observed that the axle adapter of a wagon had come of the axle trolley. The matter was immediately reported to all concerned and a potential mishap was averted. 
2. Shri Ramdas Chaudhry, Train Manager, CSMT, Mumbai, during rest hours o­n 24.12.2024, in running room, Thane woke up suddenly at 01.20 am (midnight) smelling something burning. As he woke up he saw that the bag and shirt of a motorman who was resting had caught fire. He immediately woke him up, alerted others and the fire was brought under control with the help of fire extinguishers. His alertness and presence of mind helped avert a potential mishap and loss of life and property. 
3. Shri Sachin Jagdale , Fitter, Igatpuri, Mumbai o­n 17.11.2024, during a routine check of a Goods train, noticed that the bearing cup in the axle box of a wagon was broken. The matter was reported and solved. His quick action averted a potentially serious accident.
Bhusaval Division
4. Shri R N Ghate, Chief Loco Inspector, Bhusaval, o­n 03.12.2024,during Footplating Inspection by Train no 11040 Gondia-Kolhapur Express, observed that the OHE ahead was in broken condition. Considering that stopping the train at the spot may endanger the passengers o­n board, he instructed the Loco Pilot to continue rolling o­n till the next station Shegaon where the matter was reported and action taken. His quick action averted a potentially serious accident.
5. Shri Anil Kumar Gupta, Assistant Loco Pilot, Bhusaval , o­n 25.10.2024, during duty o­n Train no 12102 Gyaneshwari Express, noticed smoke coming out of the first coach from the Engine. He immediately alerted the Loco Pilot. The train was stopped and the fire was put out with the help of fire extinguishers. A close inspection revealed that brake binding was the cause of the fire. His quick action averted a potentially serious accident
6. Shri Amresh Kumar, Track Maintainer, Bodwad, Bhusaval, o­n 10.12.2024, while o­n patrolling duty noticed a rail fracture at Kms 474/41-175/1. He immediately protected the track and gave all concerned information. A possible accident was averted due to his careful observation and prompt action.
7. Smt. Shalini Vijay, Technician, Satma, Bhusaval,  o­n 15.12.2024, during checking of Goods train, noticed a crack o­n the bolster of a wagon, which is difficult to detect in routine check. She immediately informed all concerned and a possible accident was averted due to her careful observation and prompt action.

Solapur Division

8. Shri Banwari Lal , Technician, Electrical, Sangola, Solapur  o­n 28.11.2024, during maintenance work o­n the Dhalgaon-Langarpet section, noticed a crack at 2 places o­n the 9 ton insulator. He immediately informed all concerned and a possible accident was averted due to his careful observation and prompt action.
9. Shri Yellappa Santram Phoolmali, Track Maintainer, Dudhani, Solapur, o­n 05.11.2024,  while o­n duty as Keyman, noticed brake binding o­n the wagon of a passing goods train. He immediately gave all concerned information and a possible accident was averted due to his careful observation and prompt action.

Pune Division

10. Shri Anup Kumar Yadav, Track Maintainer, Uruli, Pune, o­n 20.12.2024,  while o­n gate duty, noticed a hot axle o­n the coach of  passing Train no 11026 Amravati-Pune Express. He immediately gave all concerned information and a possible accident was averted due to his careful observation and prompt action.
11. Shri Kuldip Maurya, Track Maintainer, Talegaon, Pune, o­n 19.12.2024, while o­n gate duty as, noticed brake binding o­n the wagon of a passing goods train. He immediately gave all concerned information and a possible accident was averted due to his careful observation and prompt action.

Nagpur Division

12. Kum.Roshni Arunrao, Train Manager, Nagpur, o­n 10.12.2024. while o­n duty o­n UP Goods train, noticed a part hanging out from the wagon of a passing goods train in Down direction. She immediately alerted the Train Manager of the Down Goods train and advised him to stop the train and examine the same. Her alertness and presence of mind helped save a potential mishap.

The General Manager in his address congratulated the awardees and complimented them for their alertness and dedication towards their duties. He said that such acts of alertness and bravery will motivate others to sincerely work towards the safety of passengers and avert loss of freight and railway property. 

Shri Jagmohan Garg, Additional General Manager, Shri Chandra Kishore Prasad, Principal Chief Safety Officer, Other Principal Head of Departments and Senior Officers of Central Railway were present o­n the occasion.
