The government has relieved Tobacco Board Chairman K Gopal of his duties with effect from today.
“K Gopal, Chairman, Tobacco Board is relieved of his duties with effect from November 10, 2015 with the directions to report to the Department of Personnel and Training,” the Commerce and Industry Ministry said in a statement.
Senior IAS officer Gopal was yesterday put on “compulsory wait”.
“In pursuance of the Secretariat of the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Department of Personnel and Training’s…The Competent Authority has approved placing of K Gopal on compulsory wait in the Department of Personnel and Training with immediate effect and until further orders,” it added.
