BREAKING NEWS SPECIAL:

EPF rate hike: Jaitley wins no brownie points with repeated U-turns

For the third time in two months, finance minister, Arun Jaitley, has been forced to go back on his words on the Employee Provident Fund Issue (EPF). The latest reversal came on Friday when the finance ministry increased the EPF interest rate to 8.8 per cent from 8.7 per cent approved earlier. The Central Board of Trustees (CBT) had originally recommended 8.8 per cent but the government decided to lower the rate to align with interest rates in the economy. The reversal came after trade unions threatened nationwide protests to press their demand.

Government Decides to withdraw the 10th February 2016 Notification with Immediate Effect

Government had issued a notification dated 10th February 2016 regarding rules for withdrawal from EPF Funds by the members. Under the revised rules, the employee was permitted to withdraw the employees’ share from the fund (which is 12% of the wages). However, it was prescribed that the employers’ share of contribution towards the Provident Fund (which is 3.67% of wage) would be allowed to be withdrawn only at the age of retirement (58 years). The objective was to provide a minimum social security to the workers at the time of retirement. It was noticed that over 80% of the claims settled by EPFO belonged to pre-mature withdrawal of funds, treating the EPF accounts as savings accounts, and not a Social Security instrument.

Prepare for strike we are sure the of getting better wage hike.

Comrades,

The traffic was also severely affected on Mysore, Tumkur and Hosur roads.

7th Pay Commission: Govt flip-flop on EPF emboldens employees to strike work, get higher pay

New Delhi: The flip-flops by Union government on the revised EPF withdrawal norms may embolden government employees to strike work on July 11 as a means to get higher wages and allowances under 7th Pay Commission.

First, under the public outlash, the government withdrew the budgetary proposal to make 40 percent of the EPF corpus taxable. Now, under the protest of garment factory workers in the Bangluru area, central government again withdrew its February 10 notification which prevented an employee from withdrawing 100 percent of the EPF corpus before the age of 58 years.

No compassion for employee who has no will to work: HC

No compassion can be shown to a person who neither has the will to work, nor respect for the directions given by authorities, the Delhi High Court has observed while dismissing the plea of a temporary government employee against termination of her service.

The court noted that sufficient opportunity was given to the woman petitioner who appeared to be absenting from work at her “own whims and fancies” without bothering for the consequences.

“Further, no compassion can be shown to a person who has no will to work and no respect for the directions/warnings issued by authorities. It is absolutely clear that sufficient opportunity was given to the petitioner (woman) but she showed no improvement,” Justice V P Vaish said.

These are the reasons why a good employee will quit your organisation

No Company in the world ever wants a good employee to leave the organisation. Reason? It's hard to find good talent. You may be under the impression that you have employee friendly policies, great salaries in place, but it does come as a shock when your best employees decide to put in your papers. We tell you what could be the reason behind their decision.
Better opportunities

This is probably one of the major factors behind a job switch. A great talent is wanted by everyone in the industry. Most often organizations are ready to shell out a much higher figure for an employee who has a great track record. They primarily see it as a long term investment that will yield positive results in the long run.

Poor appraisals

Believe it or not, poor appraisals are one main reason for employees to look out for other options. If you believe an employee is good, ensure you have given him his due credit. Poor appraisals have been at the forefront when it comes to tick off an employee.

No growth opportunities

An employee will eventually be unhappy if he doesn't see any growth opportunity for himself in the organisation. This stands true if the employee doesn't get to see any enhancement in his role for a long period of time. After all, everyone wants to grow and climb up the ladder and a profile that is static will never be appreciated.

Bad working environment

It is no rocket science to understand that a bad working environment is definitely a put off for an employee. It can include a poor working relationship with the reporting manager to noose-around-the-neck working culture.

If any of the above has happened with you, maybe it's time to smell the coffee.
