CBI REGISTERS THREE SEPARATE CASES AGAINST THEN CMO (FAMILY WELFARE); ADDITIONAL CMO AND OTHERS FOR CAUSING AN ALLEGED LOSS TO GOVT EXCHEQUER
The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered three separate cases U/s 120-B, 420, 468 & 471 of IPC & Section 13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) of P.C. Act, 1988, after conversion of Preliminary Enquiries against then Chief Medical Officer; Additional Chief Medical Officers, all of Uttar Pradesh Government and others for causing huge loss to Government Exchequer.
The first case has been registered against then Chief Medical Officer (Family Welfare), District Sitapur (Uttar Pradesh) and others. It was alleged that the then CMO(Family Welfare), Sitapur entered into a criminal conspiracy with Himachal Pradesh based private firm and other unknown public servants working in the office of Health & Family Welfare Department, District Sitapur (U.P) and unknown private persons with the intention to cheat the Govt. In furtherance to the conspiracy, the public servant had allegedly splitted the Indents to forgo the process of tendering & used fake quotation of different firms. In pursuance thereof, Tubectomy Operation Kit and Tubectomy operation follow up kit were allegedly purchased on exorbitant rates through quotation, in violation of the laid down guidelines, even though the same were available on rate contract. An alleged loss of Rs. 7,12,140/- (approx) was caused to the Uttar Pradesh Government.
The second case has been registered against then Additional Chief Medical Officer working in the office of CMO Lakhimpur Kheri (U.P) and others. It was alleged that the public servant & others entered into a criminal conspiracy with two firms of Varanasi (U.P) to cheat the Department of Health, Govt of U.P. In pursuance thereof, the accused allegedly, utilized the fake authority letters of manufacturing firms to show supply and receipt of medicines which were deficit. The accused also allegedly connived with the supplying firms to legalize their financial claim of having supplied the medicines as per the indents raised by the office of CMO Lakhimpur Kheri. An alleged loss of Rs.16,64,390/- (approx) was caused to the Department of Health, Government of U.P.
The third case has been registered against then Additional Chief Medical Officer, working in the office of CMO Lakhimpur Kheri (U.P) and others. It was alleged that then Additional CMO & others entered into a criminal conspiracy with three firms of Varanasi to cheat the Department of Health, Govt of U.P. In pursuance thereof, the accused allegedly utilized the fake authority letters of manufacturing firms to show receipt of medicines which were deficit. They also allegedly connived with the supplying firms to legalize their financial claim of having supplied the medicines as per the indents raised by the office of CMO Lakhimpur Kheri. An alleged loss of Rs.15,84,489/- (approx) was caused to Department of Health, Government of U.P.
The investigation of the cases is continuing.
