TWO YEARS RIGOROUS IMPRISONMENT TO THEN REGIONAL OFFICER OF CENTRAL BOARD OF FILM CERTIFICATION IN A DISPROPORTIONATE ASSETS CASE

New Delhi , 30.03.2016

The Special Judge for CBI Cases, Chennai has convicted Shri D. Rajasekar (An Indian Forest Service Officer), then Regional Officer, Central Board of Film Certification, Chennai and his wife Smt. Yogalakshmi, then Assistant Professor, Rice Research Station, Tirur, District Thiruvallur (Tamilnadu) for possession of disproportionate assets. Shri D. Rajasekar was sentenced to undergo two years Rigorous Imprisonment and his wife Smt Yogalakshmi to undergo one year Rigorous Imprisonment. The Court has also directed to confiscate disproportionate assets worth Rs. 8,70,469/-.

CBI had registered a case against Shri D.Rajasekar, Regional Officer, Central Board of Film Certification, Chennai and his wife Smt. Yogalakshmi, Assistant Professor, Rice Research Station, Tirur, Thiruvallur District on the allegations that Shri D.Rajasekar, Regional Officer had acquired assets in his name and in the name of his wife which were disproportionate to their known sources of income.

A chargesheet was filed against Shri Rajasekar and Smt Yogalakshmi before the IX Additional Special Judge for CBI Cases, Chennai U/s 109 of IPC r/w 13(2) r/w 13(1)(e) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.

The Trial Court found both the accused guilty and convicted them.
