CBI arrests two HIL officials for taking Rs 25k bribe

New Delhi, Mar 22 () CBI has arrested a Deputy GM and another senior official of Hindustan Insecticides Limited (HIL) in Maharashtra's Raigad for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000.

A CBI spokesperson identified the arrested as Deputy General Manager (Finance and Accounts) B P Sahu and Manager Vasant Gawde posted at the HIL, an enterprise under Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, in Rasayani in Panvel.
"A case was registered on a complaint from a private contractor alleging that Sahu and Gawde demanded a bribe of Rs 50,000 from him for release of the payment regarding a contract completed by him in the year 2013-14.

"CBI laid a trap and caught both the accused while accepting a bribe of Rs 25,000 as first instalment," the spokesperson said.

They said searches were also conducted at the residences and office of both the accused and documents related to the case and certain property recovered.

In a separate case, the agency arrested a senior Section Engineer of Railways posted at Manmad railway station for accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from a complainant.

The arrested person has been identified as B K Patil.

"It was alleged that the accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from the complainant for transferring him from Lasalgaon in Nasik to Manmad railway station. CBI laid a trap and caught Patil while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 as part payment from the complainant.

"Searches were conducted in Patil's house which led to recovery of cash of about Rs 1.5 lakh and documents," the spokesperson said.

In a third case, the agency arrested a Railway Protection Force Sub Inspector, identified as Mahender Singh, posted at the Tumsar railway station in Bhandara district of Maharashtra for "demanding a bribe of Rs 3,000 from a complainant for allowing him to operate his canteen."
