CBSE launches web portal ‘Saransh’ With an aim to improve children’s education by enhancing interaction between schools as well as parents and providing data-driven decision support system to assist in taking best decisions for children’s future, CBSE recently launched ‘Saransh’— a tool for comprehensive self-review
and analysis for CBSE schools and parents in the form of a web portal as well as mobile application by the same name. The move is being hailed by parents, schools and students in Dehradun, where a large number of CBSE schools are located.
HRD minister Smriti Irani launched the ‘Saransh’ portal developed by CBSE in National Conference on ICT In school education held on November 7 at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi last week. In a circular dated November 10, CBSE has informed about the Saransh portal and mobile app to all principals and heads of institutions of CBSE-affiliated schools and has requested schools to use it extensively and also recommend its usage to parents.
At the click of a button, parents and schools can view data related to Comprehensive and Continuous Evaluation (CCE) of state, region etc. Parents may also go down to student specific details while schools can view macro level statistics to see where their institute stands. The data will help stakeholders in self review by viewing student’s performance in various subjects. This will help them to take decisions using data driven analysis empowering schools and parents.
“I think ‘Saransh’ is a great initiative by CBSE and will definitely help bringing in schools, teachers and parents closer, so that student’s progress can be monitored and they can be helped to improve their performance” said Prem Kashyap, principal, Pestle Weed College, a CBSE school in the Doon valley.
‘Saransh’ will provide schools/parents a complete snapshot and comprehensive analysis to take actionable decisions by providing details of schools’ and students’ performance in scholastic areas at an aggregate level and also at the level of each student in a school. Schools will also be able to compare their performance with other CBSE schools at various levels. Besides this, it will provide parents and teachers to have one on one interaction regarding their child’s performance and overall growth and parents will also get notifications from school/teachers on various activities to be held in schools.
“I feel this newly initiated portal and app will help in bridging the gap between schools and parents and is a welcome step. I have downloaded the android app and will soon register as well” said Geeta Gupta, a thrilled parent.
To curtail any chances of misuse, the portal has a two-factor authentication process for enhanced security and parents’ login credentials will be authenticated by the schools, whereas on the mobile app, parents can register by providing their ward’s registration/roll number. At present, Saransh is available for parents of students studying in classes IX to XII in CBSE schools.
A teacher, said ” The portal will allow relevant data to be made available to schools, parents and CBSE administrators and is a great step by CBSE which will aid in taking best decisions for children’s future”
